ESL One Rio 2020 Overview
ESL One Rio 2020 is the first Major CSGO tournament of the year and the first major event that takes place in Brazil. ESL One Rio 2020 will see 24 of the world’s best Counter Strike GO rosters fighting for $1,000,000 at the Jeunesse Arena between 21st and 24th May 2020.
ESL One Rio Grand finals are 4 months away but the regional Qualifiers are already underway, and so the opportunity to bet on one of the top CSGO tournaments of the year.
As part of the ESL Pro tour, the Rio 2020 Major is one of the twenty ESL and DreamHack events that are now part of one big story concluding each year in Katowice and Cologne.
ESL One Rio 2020 Format & Schedule
Regional Qualifiers: January 31st – March 8th
Any CSGO team around the world can earn its spot in the tournament’s grand finals by winning one of the 9 online Regional Qualifiers. Matches will take place starting at the end of January and will end in March. The top teams will qualify for their respective region Minors.
ESL One Rio 2020 Minors: April 26th – May 3rd
ESL One Rio has 4 Minors: Asia, CIS, America and Europe. 32 teams from across the globe will play in a Studio environment with the top 10 teams qualifying for the Challengers Stage. The Minors’ matches will start on Sunday, April 25th at 10:00 AM. Minors offer a $50,000 Prize Pool.
ESL One Rio 2020 Challenger Stage: May 11th – 14th
The ESL One Rio Challenger Stage represents the start of the event’s final stage, debuting on May 11th with the 16 qualified teams being placed in a Swiss System format.
Elimination and Advancement matches are Best of 3 while any other match is Best of 1. Top 8 teams advance to the New Legends Stage while the bottom 8 are eliminated.
ESL One Rio 2020 Legends Stage: May 16th – 19th
The Legends Stage represents the last step before the Grand Final. The 16 qualified teams – 8 coming from the Challenger Stage and 8 more that earned an invite – will compete against each other in a Swis Format with Bo1 and Bo3 matches. The top eight teams will play the Grand Final.
ESL One Rio 2020 Champions Stage: May 21st – 24th
The culmination of the Rio Major, the Champions Stage starts on May 21st with teams placed in a Single-Elimination bracket with Best of 3 matches. The tournament winner will receive $500,000 while the runner-up will received $150,000.
