Tournament Overview
The International is the biggest Dota 2 event by Dota Pro Circuit sponsored by Valve. Its 10th edition will be held in Romania, Bucharest on the National Arena in October 2021.
The tournament was originally programmed to take place in August 2020 in Avicii Arena, Stockholm, Sweden, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Valve decided to delay the event.
The teams that got an invitation are EG, Virtus.pro, Team Secret, PSG.LGD, QC, Invictus, T1, Vici Gaming, Team Aster, beastcoast, Alliance, and Thunder Predators.
The teams from the Regional Qualifiers are Fnatic, Elephant, OG, Team Spirit, SG esports, and Team Undying.
Format
The 18 teams that will compete at TI are either the winners of the Regional Qualifiers in season 2 or invited teams.
The invited teams are the ones with the most DPC raking points. Another rule for these teams is that they can participate only if they did not replace more than two players from their last season’s roster.
The 12 invited teams will play a double-elimination bracket. The Group stage and the Showdowns are played as Best of 3 and the grand final is played as a Best of 5.
Prize Pool
From The International’s history, we know that 2013 was the first year when the Dota 2 community has been able to contribute to the prize pool. In 2013 TI prize pool grew to $2.8 million USD and surpassed $20 million in 2016.
The total prize pool for The International 10 is $40,018,195 US Dollars.
