Entain acquired esports betting startup, Unikrn

Unikrn will soon have more assets and options for its fans! One of the world’s largest sports betting companies bought Unikrn’s betting services.

• Entain acquired Seattle’s start-up Unikrn Esports on 17th August
• CEO calculates a $160 billion total addressable market in sports betting, igaming and interactive gaming.
• The platform announced its users to withdraw all their funds immediately

At the begging of 2021, Unikrn Gaming Solutions won the EGR B2B Awards 2021 “Betting Supplier of the Year” award. Now they’ve made a deal with Entain.

Entain acquired Unikrn Esports on 17th August

Entain owns many well-known gaming brands such as Ladbrokes and conducts 27 regulated gaming markets. Jette Nygaard-Andersen started her work as the new CEO, in the middle of last year’s pandemic and things weren’t looking good. A couple of months later she made a great deal with Unikrn.

Unikrn is a Seattle start-up that has a leading esports betting platform. The start-up caught the attention of many celebrity investors such as Ashton Kutcher.

On 17th August Entain agreed to get Unikrn but the financial terms weren’t disclosed yet.

“We can triple our business here, just looking at how this market will multiply,”  “And it’s all about more spent, more engagement, more fun for the customers.” –  Nygaard-Andersen said in an interview with CNBC

Jette Nygaard-Andersen also said Entain is well-positioned to take a big share of a predicted $160 billion total addressable market. The company calculates a total of $20 billion in addressable market share over time and $160 billion for sports betting, igaming and interactive gaming.

The acquisition news came after Entain beat the expectations with their second-quarter earnings.

The platform announced its users to withdraw all their funds right away

The transition is going to include some development and regulatory changes that will place the platform offline.

Unikrn is going offline until an unknown date in 2022. This means you won’t be able to access your account or bet.
