The eight-time Olympic gold winner, Usain Bolt, makes his début in esports by becoming a Co-owner of WYLDE. The announcement was made on 30th March.
The athlete will be “involved in a range of activities focused on elevating Wylde’s growing brand.”
Steve Daly and David Cronin founded WYLDE, two years ago. The organization announced that it has a new co-owner: a legendary global sports star, Usain Bolt, on media platforms.
WYLDE – What You Love Doing Esports
Another surprise to the topic is that Bolt choose an organization that is not from his homeland, nor United States. WYLDE has its quarter base in Dublin, Ireland and currently has rosters in Rainbow Six Siege, FIFA, Rocket League and VALORANT.
WYLDE stands for “What You Love Doing Esports”–proudly promotes its “deep roots in the Caribbean,”. The organization has players from France, Germany, the U.K., The Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain. WYLDE recently established an academy that promises to organize community competitions, and offering help in building talents. This dream is possible by presenting Bootcamps across Europe, and thanks to its newest shareholder, in Jamaica.
“I am Usain Bolt and WYLDE is my team”
Bolt said: “WYLDE is on a journey to becoming one of the biggest brands in the fastest growing sport in the world. In esports, like in track and field, it’s critical to have that competitive, winning mentality. I look forward to working with the WYLDE leadership team to help our players to reach their potential, while also taking care of their physical and mental wellbeing”.
WYLDE co-founder, David Cronin, said: “Usain coming on board takes WYLDE to the next level. With his vast competitive experience and Olympic-winning mentality, his guidance will be invaluable as we continue to build professional structures to support the development of our players”.
