GTA 6 is coming “soon” according to Steven Ogg
GTA 6 could be releasing within the next year or two, according to GTA 5’s very own Trevor, Steven Ogg.
The actor recently appeared on a panel during the Brazil Game Show, where he explained that due to Rockstar’s “games take 7-8 years to make”, the next iteration of GTA might be soon upon us.
Considering GTA 5 launched in 2013, Ogg’s calculations set the GTA 6 launch date to either 2020 (next year!) or 2021, right in time for the next PS5 or Xbox consoles, both of which will be released during next year’s Holiday season.
As three is no official statement from Rockstar and we don’t really know if Ogg is just making baseless assumptions as an outside onlooker, or is himself involved in making GTA 6 the math does seem to be correct. With Red Dead Redemption 2 out already – even with its PC version – it might be that the publisher has shifted its resources on the new GTA title.
With almost six years since the last GTA game came out and fans are currently enduring the longest wait for a new game, speculations and rumors will only multiply in the next few months.
GTA 6 Rumours
Talking about GTA 6 rumors, the internet is already filled with (unconfirmed) details about the new game. One of them mentions that GTA 6 could launch in 2020 as a timed PS5 exclusive, that it’ll be set in Vice City and will only release on next-gen formats.
Another leak emerged from the GTAForums, where once again the notion of working across Vice City and Liberty City came up; focusing heavily on drug smuggling and Cartels across multiple time periods. The locations that the game is rumoured to be set in are:
- Liberty City (Limited Area)
- Vice City (Main City)
- Rio de Neve, South America (Rio de Janeiro, Main City)
- Republic of Castellano, South America (Mix of Bolivia and Colombia, Main City)
- Minor Cities
- People’s Republic of del Castro, Central America (Fictional Central American island based on Panama and Cuba, Island)
- Mexico (Mexico, Limited Area)
- Prologue: 1978
- Main Story: 1980s
- Epilogue: Present Day
It is to be seen if the actor has unintentionally provided an insight into Rockstar’s roadmap so we would advise you to take all this information with a (large) pinch of salt.
