With esports becoming popular as physical events, more arenas around the world are hosting CS:GO, LoL or Dota2 tournaments. Also, many other spaces are targeted to build new locations for the esports scene. Skillshot is ahead and already started its massive esports venue project in Atlanta.
The atrium is the nerve center of the new venue
The venue will provide gaming areas, Skillshot’s Alpharetta office and the production studios. Besides that, it will also serve as a learning center for resident students. The atrium is going to host esports events with 300-400 persons.
“Atlanta’s premier venue for esports events” is going to be 35,000 square feet. It will also contain a large LED screen that can support worldwide live streaming. The atrium is the “nerve center of Uptown’s reimagined office experience”.
Skillshot makes partnerships with “industry-leading” allies
“Skillshot brings an unmatched level of esports expertise and ingenuity to Uptown and this partnership signals an exciting opportunity for the future of digital innovation in Atlanta. Together, we will build upon the undeniable impact of the gaming industry and create a forward-thinking, creative hub for the community.”
Taylor Smith, Regional Director of the Southeast at Rubenstein
Skillshot will work with “industry-leading gaming partners” in the build-out of the venue. The official peripheral partner of Skillshot at Uptown is HyperX. HyperX will gear the place with keyboards, mice and microphones, as part of the deal.
“With this partnership, Skillshot at Uptown becomes the Metro Atlanta hub for digital media, gaming and esports,” said Todd Harris, chief executive officer of Skillshot Media.
University System of Georgia and the Georgia Film Academy students will get the chance to work with Skillshot
Skillshot’s partnerships continue with the Atlanta Esports Alliance, University System of Georgia and Georgia Film Academy. The purpose of this affiliation is to offer students the chance to learn, develop and find suitable careers.
Asante Brandford, the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Senior Industry Engagement Manager, Center of Innovation – IT, declared that Skillshot Media’s new production studio and learning center will be a real benefit in Georgia’s esports ecosystem.
He also declared that he is looking forward to seeing the opportunities and assist the growth of the next generation of software developers and gamers.
Although Uptown is not trying to compete with the top 10 esports arenas around the world, their plans and partnerships are impressive. Their mixed-use space is going to be a huge deal for Atlanta’s Esports scene growth.
Once finished, Uptown will be almost 1 million square feet of office space. 120,000 square feet of retail and a variety of community gathering spaces. We can’t wait to see some CS:GO or LoL competitions held there!
