The FACEIT Apex Legends esports series is dropping on you
The tournament, officially called FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends, kicks off its first event at 2PM PST/5PM EST on May 31st and will run for four hours.
Let’s faceit, everyone saw this coming! Sooner or later an Apex Legends esport tournament was inevitable. The question was: who was going to organize it? Well, today we know: it’s FACEIT!
The tournament, officially called FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends, kicks off its first event at 2PM PST/5PM EST on May 31st and will run for four hours. It will feature 16 of the best and most notable esports organizations such as Cloud9, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, CLG, Immortals, NRG or Fnatic. See the full list further down.
FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends Tournament Format
The FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends series will be split into eight individual events, with a total of 16 participating teams, 14 of which have been invited while two more will qualify via that FACEIT Pro Series: Apex Legends qualifier. The Qualifier will take place from May 29th-30th and will feature twenty teams selected from the Apex Pro Discord.
Although it was not yet officially announced, the format will probably make use of custom servers where the rosters will compete against each other for points. That, or they’ll just jump into random public matches. No kidding, this is still on the table. And to be honest, we actually find this more exciting – it gives a shot at stardom to a random Joe that can take on a professional player.
Each of the eight series will feature a $5,000 prize pool with an additional $10,000 offered as a seasonal prize pool for the overall highest scoring team. During each event, one of the participating teams will play and broadcast from the FACEIT Studios in LA while the others will join online via the FACEIT platform.
