IEM Melbourne 2021 Overview
Event Cancelled!
Intel Extreme Masters XV – Melbourne is the first tournament of the 15th season of IEM.
The tournament has to feature 16 teams competing for a share of a $250,000 USD prize pool.
The winners will also have the opportunity of another tournament win towards the third season of Intel Grand Slam.
The event will be taking place in August 2021, due to COVID-19, and the Playoffs will be held in the Rod Laver Arena.
Schedule
Intel Masters Season XV – Melbourne 2021 is going to start on 12 of August 2021 and it will end on 22 of August.
The event was postponed due to the concern over COVID-19.
Format
The format of the Intel Extreme Masters Season XV – Melbourne 2021 will contain double-elimination groups. Each group has eight teams, the Rankings are not announced and but the matches are best of three.
After that, the top three teams from the Groups stage will go to the Playoffs with where Group stage winners advancing straight e to the Semifinals.
Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds and the 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.
The Playoffs will have single-elimination brackets, the Quarterfinals & Semifinals will be Best of 3 and the Grade Final will be Best of 5.
Prize Pool
IEM Melbourne will have a $250,000 USD prize pool, will be divided as follows:
- 1st place – $100,000 USD
- 2nd place – $42,000 USD
- 3rd – 4th – $20,000 USD
- 5th – 6th – $10,000 USD
- 7th – 8th – $6,000
- 9th – 12th – $5,000
- 13th -16th – $4,000

The teams will be announced soon. Of the 16 participating teams, 10 will join through a direct invite while 6 will earn their spot through a qualification tournament.
