LCS 2020 – the North American League of Legends Championship Series will kick off its Spring split on January 25th introducing a new match schedule and format.
LCS 2020 games will now take place during the weekend and on Mondays over a 9-week regular season. The new format for the LCS Playoffs will take place over 4 weeks and will provide the 3 North-American teams that will qualify for the Worlds 2020.
LCS 2020 Schedule
LCS 2020 weekly match schedule will feature games on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays at the LCS Studios. Each weekend, there will be 4 LCS games followed by an in-studio Academy game. Mondays will feature the 2 marquee match-ups of the week.
LCS 2020 Spring Key Dates:
Spring Split Start Date: Saturday, January 25
Spring Split Regular Season: January 25 – March 22
Spring Playoffs: March 28 – April 19
- Round 1 Winners: March 28-29
- Round 1 Losers: April 4-5
- Round 2: April 11-12
- Finals: April 18-19
LCS 2020 Summer Key Dates:
Summer Split Start Date: Saturday, June 20
Summer Split Regular Season: June 20 – August 16
Summer Playoffs: August 20 – September 13
- Round 1: August 20-23
- Round 2: August 27-30
- Round 3: September 5-6
- Finals: September 12-13
League of Legends Championship Series 2020 Format
LCS 2020 Regular Season – Group Stage
LCS 2020 Spring and Summer splits will continue to operate on a 9-week regular season featuring a double round-robin Group Stage. The 10 participating teams in the LCS will each play a total of 18 Best of 1 matches. Top 6 teams (8 teams for the Summer season) qualify for the Playoffs.
LCS 2020 Playoffs
Riot is changing the LCS 2020 Playoffs format which will now take place over 4 weeks with the specific format changing between Spring and Summer.
At the conclusion of the Spring Split regular season, the top 6 teams from the regular season will advance to a Best of 5 bracket. The winner of the 2020 LCS Spring Finals will advance to the 2020 Mid-Season Invitational.
After the regular Summer season, there will be 8 teams that will advance into the Playoffs and a Best of 5 bracket. The top three teams from 2020 LCS Summer Playoffs will qualify for the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. As such, there will no longer be a Regional Qualifier or Championship Points.
