LEC 2021 Overview
LEC 2021, the League of Legends European Championship, debuts on 24th of January with the first series of matches of its Spring Split.
LEC 2020 will take place in Berlin and Rotterdam and will offer a whooping €400,000 prize pool. Additionally, winners of the Spring tournament will qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational while the winners of the Summer Split will earn their spot in the World Championship 2020.
What’s the LEC 2021 Format?
The Spring and Summer LEC 2020 splits will be based on a regular season taking place over 9 weeks and a Playoffs season where the best LEC teams will face each other for a shot at the Split champion title.
LEC 2021 Group Stage
For the Regular Season, all the LEC teams will be placed in a Double Round Robin bracket where each team will play 18 matches. All matches will be played as Best of 1 and the Top 6 rosters qualifies to the Playoffs
LEC 2021 Playoffs
Teams qualified for the Playoffs will be played in a Single Elimination bracket with Best of 5 matches.
In the first round: The 3rd seed will choose to face either the 5th or 6th seed and the 4th seed will face the remaining team. The winning teams will advance to the second round, the losing teams will be eliminated.
Second Round: The two teams advancing from the first round will play each other, winner advances to the Loser’s Finals. The 1st and 2nd seeds will play against each other, winner advances to the Grand Finals, loser drops to the Loser’s Finals.
Third round: The winner of the Loser’s Finals will advance to the final.
Winner of the Spring Playoffs will receive €80,000 and a qualifying spot at the Mid Season Invitations. Winner of the Summer Playoffs will receive the same share of the prize pool and a spot in the Worlds 2020 – the largest League of Legends tournament.
