Mid-Season Invitational 2022 Overview
The Mid-Season Invitational 2022 is the second-most important tournament of the year after the LOL World Championship. The MSI 2022 will take place in May and will bring together the winners from 11 individual Riot leagues Spring splits such as the LEC, LCS, LCK, CBLOL, LPL, etc. The starting date of the group stage is 10th May. The last day of this League of Legends championship is 29th May.
Format
Group Stage 10th – 15th May
The 11 participating teams are split into 3 uneven groups. One group will have three teams and two groups of four teams. All matches are Bo1 and played in a Double Round-Robin format.
Top two teams per group advance to the next stage, and bottom two teams are eliminated.
Rumble Stage – May 18th – 22nd
The six remaining teams play in another Double Round-Robin format, also with Bo1 matches. The bottom two teams will be eliminated and the reaming four will advance to the Knockout Stage.
Knockout Stage – May 27th – 29th
All the matches are Bo5 with a Single-Elimination bracket. The first place team of the Rumble Stage will choose to face either the third or fourth place team.
Prize Pool
In 2019, the Mid-Season Invitational offered a total prize pool of $1,000,000, but this year is only $250,000.
